I feel so grateful to the artists who joined us this summer to learn my dark and physically challenging solo "She Comes Flying". It is a gift for me to watch people learn my own dances - to see them dig into the material. This is especially true with the trapeze work because it is so challenging. Each student comes up against some fear to overcome and watching them do that is inspiring. It is amazing to watch artists at work. The focus in the room is intense - both on one's own performance and the performance of others.
On the last day of the workshop everyone had learned the entire 8 minute dance. Each student was cheered on as they attempted to perform the entire dance then watched as the performers melted into the floor, completely spent.
